Recent Changes to ACT
ACT introduced an innovative pilot program for the December 2023 ACT National test, giving a unique opportunity to 5,000 students to try out the much-awaited online testing format. However,
beginning in February 2024, ACT started providing this new online testing alternative at specific sites nationwide. The online ACT cannot be taken remotely and must be completed on a device provided by the test center at the selected location. This new online testing alternative offered by ACT will provide students with a more convenient and flexible option for taking the exam. By allowing students to take the test online at specific sites across the country, ACT is aiming to make the testing process more accessible and efficient for students. Students could choose to see if computer-based testing is offered in their location and sign up by clicking
here.
Starting in April 2025, students who choose online testing will benefit from enhanced flexibility and options, a reduced test duration, and additional time to respond to each question. These enhancements will also be applied to paper-based tests beginning in September 2025. Schools and districts will have access to these options starting in the spring of 2026.
Some Tips to Remember
- Students should consider registering two months before the registration deadline.
- Testing dates are on Saturdays.
- International students do not have the option to select paper and pencil testing for the ACT, as this choice is only available to candidates from the USA.
- Some test centers also allow testing on non-Saturday days, but only for religious reasons.
- The ACT fees are non-refundable, although the test can be rescheduled.
- Scores are available anywhere between 2 days to 8 weeks, with no specific deadline.
